Microsoft & Open Source

Microsoft's stance towards Open Source is really going good.

  • Framework Code release
  • Codeplex
  • IIS 7 - Fast CGI for PHP
  • and now joining the Apache Software Foundation for PHP etc are great timelines for M$ and the community.

I didnt find any comment from the other end GNU/GPL leads...

Gmail s’ Last Account activity

Saw a link called "Details” in the bottom of the Gmail Page. - Last account activity     As usual Google into their Ad business in a different way.......

Clicking the Details link next to the Last account activity line at the bottom of any Gmail page shows information about recent activity in your mail.

Gmail s’ Last Account activity

Recent activity includes any times that your mail was accessed, using a regular web browser, through a POP client, from a mobile device, etc. We'll list the IP address from which the access was made, as well as the time and date.

Its shows the last 5 sessions

Reducing the size of Virtual Hard Disk (VHD)

Most of us are working in the vhd, and quite often the size increases like a hell. Reducing the vhd size was a big problem for me. 4.5GB (.vhd) file grew to 8GB in a month or so..
Not comfortable with DiskFragmenter and suddenly today I found another from an article CLEAN MEAN the VHD, which was not bad. It helped to reduce my vhd size my almost 30%

1) Inside the VM, run disk defragmenter
2) Inside the VM, run Virtual Disk Precompactor or other disk utility program to "zero out" deleted data
3) Shutdown the VM, run "Virtual Disk Wizard" from VPC console to compact the VHD.

I was told that VMWare full version is having the option of reducing/fine tuning the vhd. Though I have never tried..

Get Rid of "An unexpected error has occurred" in Sharepoint / MOSS 2007

Everyone one of us, worked in Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007, have seen this Error - An unexpected error has occured. I never expected that this errors' log can be made available to the developer, just like the one is ASP.Net. Found an article unexpectedly for this error ;-)

Anyway, the work around is very simple.
