Connect Netgear wireless Router WGR614 with BSNL Huawei modem
Last week I went to my cousin Sudhans' house. He is using BSNL Dataone, also he is having Linksys Wireless Router, which is not in use.
So I took my Netgear Wireless Router WGR614 to his house in tiruppur. Unlike other major ISPs in India, BSNL uses PPP(PPPoE) based dialing to connect to BSNL Broadband (Dataone) network.
Connecting the Huawei modem with my Netgear wireless router was not possible with my knowledge, so I googled for a longtime. It gave many results but I was not comfortable as I found that PPPoE based connection is supported by NetGear. So I thought it will be very easy than those step by step guides in the links. I read the Web Based documentation of the Netgear Wireless Router. It showed a very simple way to do that.
Im considering that your BSNL based connection is working, so this is just a add on to your existing connection to make you a wireless broadband experience.
- Just login to the Netgear Wireless Router Web based Configurator / Manager
- Select "Does Your Internet Connection Require a Login" to YES
- Choose Other as your ISP
- Give out your BSNL Dataone - username & password
- Make sure Internet IP Address is selected to Get Dynamically from ISP (Choose the appropriate one as per your current settings)
- Set DNS Address as the following
BSNL DNS Information :
Primary DNS : 61.1.96.69
Secondary DNS : 61.1.96.71
Long time back I got a call from a girl called Priya, a tele-caller based in Madras, for HSBC Personal Loan. I was not interested so I told her that. But she called me again, and I shouted that Im busy and Do not call me. She called me again, fourth or fifth time.
But I have registered in the Do Not call Registry of HSBC bank, in their website a long time back.
I asked for her age & education. she was in her early 20s' and some BSc degree. Then I replied, "Priya, Im really interested in talking to you, I dont mind talking to you regulary, but dont call me for this Loan. Just talk, tell me about yourself etc.," She didnt reply, thats all. She didnt call me from that moment.
Like this a guy called me for deutsche bank credit card. I told him that I already have many cards ...

Wi-Fi Hotspots in Chennai Airport
Last week I went to Madras(Chennai) Airport to pick my brother. As I haven't accessed any Wi-Fi connection in Madras Airport, I took my new Laptop, to check out the Wi-Fi Hotspots. BSNL, KingFisher & TATA-Indicom are the three networks available inside the Airport. Though I expected Sifys' Sify Wi-zone, but it was not there.

I tried connecting
Got my hp tc4400

I have got my new Tablet PC last thursday from HP. Awesome to use. Im mostly engaged in that only. Learning more about the Tablet functionality.
Well, battery is really great. That too with WLAN enabled, im getting nearly 5 hours!! Also the Core 2 Duo is doing great job.
Please wait for a week or two for my review on this new hp TC4400.

In tablet Mode
Multi Touch Interaction Technology
I have heard of Multi Touch Technology a long back, when I started reading about Tablet PC & Handhelds. A cool video, which shows a Professor (Jefferson Y. Han) using a device that has Multi Touch Interaction Technology. Read more on this.
How it will be ? If we get such a device infront of us in the office instead of 17" LCD, a mouse and a Keyboard. Just think of those Fiction movies....
Im expecting some Tablet Manufacturers to use this in their Tablet, so that my next Tablet PC will be of this type!!

Ordered a HP tc4400 Tablet PC

I have ordered a hp Tablet PC tc4400 yesterday. After Vasanth showcased his Tablet PC in his blog, my interest towards the Tablet PC has gone out of my control !And I started reading more about it. He was having Tecra M4, and later Duo Core version of the same was introduced with the name M7. So I chose Tecra M7 & hp TC4400 to decide upon.
Other than the 12.1" display & lacking of internal optical drive hp TC4400 is similar to Toshiba Tecra M7. Im least bothered about the missing internal Drive, the reason is am not using it frequently, and its nearly a month I used my current optical Drive! Also I prefer 12.1" display for its compact size & Benq 17" will serve my need for a bigger display. Many a times I had a second thought about Tecra M7. Even in October when was in London, I thought of buying it there, but it was too costly (nearly 50% over priced than US) Likewise, something or the other went wrong in ordering that!
So I concluded my messy mind for a HP tc4400.
And yesterday, I have ordered it at last!
The specification for the same is here :

Taking your ASP.Net Web Application Offline
My work mostly revolves around ASP.Net based Projects, and so I frequently come across a situation where I release the application (or a part of it - may be dll ) for Testing, when someone is accessing. Generally I used to delete the web folder and install the new one after a informal notification. For this I cant stop or pause the Web server, as some other web application is running side by side will get affected. In times, I will just replace the web folder as such (taking advantage of the xcopy deployment). Its not the exact way to do so!!
At last I found the solution for this : Simply add a file called app_offline.htm to your root of the web folder. The application wont respond to any of the further requests. It just throws 404 - Error ( The resource cannot be found. )
app_offline.htm - can be a empty file. This is a simple way to bring your application Offline!
To bring it back (making it online is so simple - deleting the file app_offline.htm will do!
I have checked with ASP.Net 2.0, and not tried with ASP.Net 1.1 Even I dont know whether this feature is there in ASP.Net 1.1
