Ordered a HP tc4400 Tablet PC

hp tc4400

I have ordered a hp Tablet PC tc4400 yesterday. After Vasanth showcased his Tablet PC in his blog, my interest towards the Tablet PC has gone out of my control !And I started reading more about it. He was having Tecra M4, and later Duo Core version of the same was introduced with the name M7.  So I chose Tecra M7 & hp TC4400 to decide upon.

Other than the 12.1" display & lacking of internal optical drive hp TC4400 is similar to Toshiba Tecra M7. Im least bothered about the missing internal Drive, the reason is am not using it frequently, and its nearly a month I used my current optical Drive! Also I prefer 12.1" display for its compact size & Benq 17" will serve my need for a bigger display. Many a times I had a second thought about Tecra M7. Even in October when was in London, I thought of buying it there, but it was too costly (nearly 50% over priced than US) Likewise, something or the other went wrong in ordering that!

So I concluded my messy mind for a HP tc4400.

And yesterday, I have ordered it at last!

The specification for the same is here  :

Motherboard Chipset Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset with 667 MHz FSB
Inputs Full-sized keyboard; Enhanced dual pointing devices (touchpad and point stick) with scroll zone, Wacom digital eraser pen with tether and clip
 Wireless Technology(s) Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945 a/b/g  & hp Bluetooth™ 2.0

Today Im buying a IDE to USB cable, which is my idea for Optical Drive replacement!

Taking your ASP.Net Web Application Offline

My work mostly revolves around ASP.Net based Projects, and so I frequently come across a situation where I release the application (or a part of it - may be dll ) for Testing, when someone is accessing. Generally I used to delete the web folder and install the new one after a informal notification. For this I cant stop or pause the Web server, as some other web application is running side by side will get affected. In times, I will just replace the web folder as such (taking advantage of the xcopy deployment). Its not the exact way to do so!!

At last I found the solution for this : Simply add a file called app_offline.htm to your root of the web folder. The application wont respond to any of the further requests. It just throws  404 - Error ( The resource cannot be found. )

app_offline.htm  - can be a empty file. This is a simple way to bring your application Offline!

To bring it back (making it online is so simple - deleting the file app_offline.htm will do!

I have checked with ASP.Net 2.0, and not tried with ASP.Net 1.1 Even I dont know whether this feature is there in ASP.Net 1.1

Jog Falls & Shimoga

Jog Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in Asia is located in Shimoga District of Karnataka state. And the Sharavathi River, which falls from a height of 292 metre (958 feet) is the cause for the water falls.

Jog Falls

Two weeks back 10 of us, well I can refine "us" exactly as 10 Software Engineers went to Jog. Its our friend Arun Prakash Devarajan working with INFOSYS, initiated the idea. And with Arun, 5 more INFOSICIANS and 2 of our friends(Senthil & Ganesh) and of course me started off to Bangalore from Madras on 29th-Sep-2006 night. We reached there at 6am the next day and

Saksoft acquired, Acuma Group UK

ACUMA Logo - Saksoft Acquires 100% of Acuma Group UK

Just few weeks back, Saksoft was awarded with CMMi Level 5 Accredition, and now it has acquired Acuma, a UK based high end consulting Firm for about 17 million USD.

About  Acuma : It is UK’s largest, dedicated provider of information value management solutions and strategic consultancy. Acuma works with organizations to consolidate, organize and manage the huge volumes of data collected by suiness. Acuma has built an enviable track record delivering hundreds of solutions ranging from strategic advice to large multi-million pound developments. It is this experience and knowledge base that is encapsulated in their IVM(Information Value Model) framework. Acuma also offers licensing  and training services in Business Objects.

Acuma have industry consultants for information management & BI consulting and several professionals who know BO, Cognos, SAS, Terradata etc. They have a product called Acusend that distributes BO reports in email or Blackberry phones. Also Acuma have an Office @ Hyderabad which is a Offshore Unit.

Explaining the rationale for the acquisition, Aditya Krishna, said that “This is a very synergetic association as the combined entity’s offerings will now be multi-vertical, multi-service with customer facing domain experts and back-end technology/service specialists."

Adding to Aditya’s comments, David Ince (CEO of Acuma) said, “We will now have stronger ability to scale-up the business model through efficient use of onsite resources and leveraging on access to offshore resources.  We will be able to better serve our market with local knowledge and a global perspective”.

Saksoft share Price was up by about 20% in the last 5 days. I think it could have gone more, but this Circuit Breaker is not allowing it to grow ;-)

Saksoft Share Price - After ACUMA acquisition

Update : Acuma is having a Offshore development team in Hyderabad, and it is also under Saksoft now!!. So, as of now Saksoft have three Development centers in India ;-) I dont know whether it will be continued or not!! But as of now, in the Development Center list we have CDC, NDC & HDC (Chennai Development Center, Noida Development Center & Hyderabad Development Center )

Your own little universe could leave an important mark on the world!

Deploying & Deleting a SSIS DTS Package in SQL Server 2005

Here we are going to see the steps involved in installing/deploying a SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) DTS Package.

Deploying a SSIS Package in SQL Server 2005

SQL Server Integration Services Package can be deployed in many ways in SQL Server 2005.  The best way is creating a manifest file, and running that.

1. After creating the  SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) DTS Package in Visual Studio 2005 goto the project properties, (by right-clicking the project in the solution explorer, Select : Configuration Properties -> Deployment Utility,  in the Right side pane, you have a property named : CreateDeploymentUtility which must be set to True

2. After that, build the project, and check for a folder called Deployment inside the projects' Bin folder.

3. All the .DTSX file(s) which was used in the project, along with the manifest file (name will be like : <Project Name>.SSISDeploymentManifest ) will be....
