RAM / Memory Module for hp TC4400

RAM. I was planning to buy that for a long time here in India. But 200 Pin 667 MHz - 2 x 1GB RAM costed something like 10K bucks and that too without warranty/bill. So atlast I ordered in Crucial US, which was only $107 and it came through UPS but the Indian government levied import duty of around Rs. 1057.

I ordered 2 X 1GB RAM for my hp TC4400 laptop in Crucial on 30-Jul-2007. And made the payment on 31-Jul. On August 3rd, it was here in India, just in 4 days!! My Laptop carried 3 years Onsite - International Warranty and so I checked hp whether the warranty will go void, if I upgrade the RAM by myself. One guy in hp support said it will go void, and the other said NO. When asked about the fee, they said as its my request and my personal upgradation the service would attract some charge ( which was around Rs 1200 + Tax  ) So I registered a service request the same day, and they told, I will be getting a phone call and someone will come to my home in a day as I was in Madras. I patiently waited for 3 days and called them and they said they will come anytime.

I didnt had patience, and so I changed it on my own. Now, its 3 weeks and I didnt get anyone to do it. Good Service from hp. 

Just in a week my Power adapter smoked. And no other go, I called up and registered a complaint, and they said that it will take 3 business days. And that time I was in my hometown Namakkal. So no other go to get a new one on my own. My worry was that they said one day for RAM and for more than 1 week they didnt come. And now hp support is telling 3 days :(

But to my surprise the exact third day, that too in the morning 9:30am some hp executive with the New Adapter came to replace. It really attracted me. 

But still no one came for the RAM. Anyway - if you are buying RAM 2GB & above better buy it in Crucial.
