Atleast 1 call a day I used to get from the (mostly Financial) Telemarketers, that too while im in a meeting or driving. And my immediate reply will be "Im not interested, sorry" and will cut the call. Many of the big companies like Hutch, HSBC, ICICI and others have Do Not Call list/registry for their own company, but its not used I guess. (May be someone will steal that list and sell it out!!)
Not just in India, many mid-sized companies abroad outsource this Tele-Marketing to small Indian companies and they call them as BPO. Once told by my neighbour who was working for a company, where he will call 50+ people a day to sell some companys' product.
And now a days, these bullshit telemarketing-callers started asking questions like, "Why are you not interested in it ?", "May I know the reason behind this (if you say not interested)", etc.
If they are calling for the first time, I will talk as soft as I can. Mostly my replies will be like "Sorry yaar im not interested", "I already have that" or "I dont think that this will work for me". 75% of them will cut the call. The remaining will start their *real* work, with whom I will start my real *play*.
Long time back I got a call from a girl called Priya, a tele-caller based in Madras, for HSBC Personal Loan. I was not interested so I told her that. But she called me again, and I shouted that Im busy and Do not call me. She called me again, fourth or fifth time.
But I have registered in the Do Not call Registry of HSBC bank, in their website a long time back.
I asked for her age & education. she was in her early 20s' and some BSc degree. Then I replied, "Priya, Im really interested in talking to you, I dont mind talking to you regulary, but dont call me for this Loan. Just talk, tell me about yourself etc.," She didnt reply, thats all. She didnt call me from that moment.
Like this a guy called me for deutsche bank credit card. I told him that I already have many cards and not interested in this. Then he started bugging me to get one. Even once he told, I can have it and its not necessary that I must use etc., I got annoyed, and told him that Im ready to give him some money that he will get if he sells 1 card.
Sometimes these people make us to talk or insult them, even if you didnt like to.
Nationwide Do not call registry can be option, but we dont know whether this Tele-Marketers will mind it!
