Live.com site is up and running for more than a year I think. Now Microsoft is giving email Ids with @live.com
The main advantage is that you can link your existing @hotmail.com or @MSN.com or @passport.com to this. Instead of having something like username1308@hotmail.com, name.2005@msn.com etc., you can have yourname@live.com
All the service like your MSN/Hotmail Messenger, mail etc., can be linked so you will maitain only one ID that is yourID@Live.com Id
